Castello di Reschio is not a hotel conceived from scratch. It is a resurrection. Set on a vast private estate straddling the border between Umbria and Tuscany, the castle has been meticulously restored by the Bolza family, who transformed a long-neglected fortress into one of Italy’s most distinctive destinations.

The sense of history is tangible. Stone walls bear the marks of centuries, yet the interiors are unmistakably contemporary. Antique pieces coexist with bespoke furniture, bold colors and unexpected details. The result is eclectic but coherent, aristocratic without stiffness.

Each room and suite is unique, shaped by the original architecture of the castle. Views extend over forests, lakes and rolling hills, reinforcing the feeling of isolation and ownership of the landscape. This is not a place designed for passing through. It encourages staying put.

Days revolve around simple but deeply satisfying rituals. Long lunches, slow walks across the estate, swimming in the natural pool, horseback riding, or doing very little at all. The spa, housed in former wine cellars, offers a subdued, almost monastic atmosphere.

Castello di Reschio appeals to travelers drawn to authenticity and individuality. It is luxurious, unquestionably, but never polished to the point of anonymity. It feels lived-in, personal, and quietly defiant of trends.
